Rich Van Every is passionate about life. He has been traveling around the world conducting film work and photography with top athletes in action sports for 15 years. Having been a sponsored skateboarder and National Downhill Mt Bike Champion (Expert Class), allows Rich to relate with the athletes with a higher level of respect and excitement; fueled by the same pure passion for expression, as these top athletes possess.
His career began before he knew it, taking photos of his fellow skateboard friends while growing up in North County of San Diego. Now living in Carlsbad CA, his favorite activities are Cycling, Motocross, Yoga, Freeride Snowmobiling, Downhill Mt Biking, Surfing and Snowboarding. Rich’s vast travels have offered amazing opportunities, such as, visiting the Mayan Ruins in Belize and Guatemala, swimming with a 30ft whale shark in waters off Baja Mexico, and hanging out on the edge of Victoria Falls in Zambia, Africa; where Rich took on the world’s highest bundjee jump. It was near Juneau, Alaska, where he made the infamous decent of “Mendenhall Towers” a 3000 ft peak with a pitch of 65-55 degrees…completely exposed by a 300 ft cliff.
Lake Tahoe is where his career took off working with Standard films and Teton Gravity Research for 6 years shooting snowboarding and skiing, traveling throughout Austria, Switzerland, France, Japan, Sweden, Norway and Canada. Composing and filming the first back flip on a snowmobile (Slednecks4/slednecks.com) with his friend Jim Rippey is a highlight in achievements for Rich, along with documenting Carey Hart’s first attempt of a back flip on a dirt bike. RVE was the first to document snowboard superstar Shaun White at the age of 9.
His long awaited first solo project was MOTORHEAD won the "Most Innovative Video" at the X-tremy awards in 2004. Rich directed and co-produced his second project with Studio 411, a documentary on Nate Adams (current freestyle motocross world champion) titled FULL CIRCLE which won "Film of the Year" at the 2006 X Dance Awards. His third film in 2009, “TOUGHER THAN IRON” was filmed in Austria and features one of the most grueling motorcycle events on the planet. http://throttleentertainment.com
In 2011 RVE formed Lightworks Creative to bring talented colleagues together for project collaboration, design and creation. Clients include Kawasaki, Buster Biofuels, prAna, BELL Helmets and Manduka. Their first large project was the TEDx event that took place at the Burning Man event in 2011.
